Founded in 1991

American Housekeeping began operation in 1991 with the hard work and dedication of owners, Dennis and Julie Mason. Dennis had just been hit with the difficult news of layoffs as a result of corporate buyout of Price Savers (discount warehouse club) by a company that eventually became Sam’s Club.

While Dennis was offered employment contingent upon relocation, he and his wife were both Utah natives and happy with the home and lives they had built for their family in Bountiful. Dennis and Julie always wanted to be business owners, and while they knew starting a new business wouldn’t be easy, they got to work finding a business that could support their family and serve their community.

Dennis and Julie made contact with a housekeeping professional with an operation headquartered in Reno Nevada. They learned how to run an efficient operation with teams of housekeepers and were given the tools to establish a detailed training program with superior methods for cleaning homes.

Over the next three years American Housekeeping became one of the top 100 fastest growing companies in Utah by providing unmatched quality home cleaning services.

In Spring of 1995, Dennis and Julie were faced with more difficult news. Dennis was diagnosed with terminal cancer. While his brain cancer was operable, surgery only provided a short extension to his life, treatment proved to be ineffective. With the support of their 4 teenaged children, American Housekeeping continued to operated during the difficult time of cancer treatment. Two years following his diagnosis, in August 1997 Dennis Mason passed away.

Julie turned her attention to expanding and perfecting American Housekeeping. By 2003 American Housekeeping had expanded its service area to reach from Weber County through Davis County and south to include Salt Lake County. By 2009, her service area expanded into Park City and Utah County. Soon Tooele would be included.

Today American Housekeeping is the largest independently owned professional housekeeping service in Utah. Together with her youngest son, Alex, they continue to perfect an efficient operation finding new ways to use technology to better serve her clients. American Housekeeping has approximately 50 housekeepers and 10 administrative supervisors that include Scheduling Managers, HR Managers, Supplies and Equipment supervisors, and Quality Control Supervisors. The personnel allows American Housekeeping to be an efficient and reliable home cleaning service.
